🏀 There’s been a lineup change for sports fans in southeast Mesa: Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux has been replaced by a new concept called Tasteful Tailgates.
Walk-On’s, a Louisiana-based chain of sports bars co-owned by former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, opened its only Arizona location in 2022 near the southwest corner of the 202 and Ray.
The Cajun-themed venue struggled from the start, eventually changing management and holding a ‘‘grand reopening’’ in 2023.
Last month, Walk-On’s decided to pull out of the state and new owners from Maui took over the building, which some area residents may remember was once a Sweet Tomatoes.
Tasteful Tailgates has had a quiet soft-opening with a limited menu so far. Although still a sports bar, it also bills itself as a steak and seafood restaurant, featuring beef from local ranchers and seafood flown in from Hawaii.
So far, the newcomer has only a website placeholder and some social media accounts with no posts, but they hope to launch a full website (presumably with a menu) soon.
