🧀 Cheese ’n Stuff, the longtime Central Avenue staple known for its stacked sandwiches, no-frills counter service, and neighborhood-hangout energy, has reopened after a brief hiatus in midtown Phoenix.
The deli, located on the northwest corner of Central and Camelback, began in 1949 as a cheese shop. It added sandwiches in 1972 and, in 2011, served its millionth sandwich.
In April, owner Stanley Zawatski announced he was retiring and closing the business. The following month, however, a group of longtime customers stepped forward and bought Cheese ’n Stuff.
The reboot brings back everything people missed since its June 1 temporary closure for a refresh: generously built cold sandwiches, classic deli combos, and that vintage bodega vibe that feels untouched by time.
