🍝 Dave’s Italian Eatery – a family-friendly mash-up of classic red-sauce comfort, stone-fired pizzas, and neighborhood-casual vibes – has opened on the northeast corner of Val Vista and Guadalupe in Gilbert.
The locally owned restaurant takes over the building formerly occupied by Rio Rico Mexican Grill, which has moved across the parking lot.
It’s the second Italian concept in Gilbert from restaurateur David Bhatti, who also owns Eatalio Pasta & Wine.
The menu reads like a greatest-hits playlist for Italian-American cravings: spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna classico, baked ziti, penne alla vodka, angel hair pesto, and homemade gnocchi with your choice of pesto, marinara, or alfredo.
Pizzas are a major focus, fired stone-oven style with options ranging from simple cheese or pepperoni to more playful builds like fig & pig (fig spread, mozzarella, goat cheese, prosciutto, caramelized onions), pesto chicken, Mediterranean, and hot honey arrabbiata.
Chicken entrées run the familiar comfort spectrum – parmigiana, piccata, Marsala, and Florentina – while seafood lovers get linguine with clams, shrimp diablo, salmon piccata, and the loaded capellini seafood topped with garlic butter lobster cream sauce.
