🥩🍸 Cleaverman and Filthy Martini Bar – the much-anticipated new creations from Pretty Decent Concepts, the minds behind Wren & Wolf, Filthy Animal, and Carry On – will be unveiled Friday at the Arizona Center on the northeast corner of Van Buren and Third Street in downtown Phoenix.
Cleaverman, a 10,000-square-foot steakhouse, seats more than 300 guests across a sprawling dining room that channels mid-century glamour without feeling like cosplay.
Chef Ivan Gonzalez and executive chef Jared Porter lead the kitchen, showcasing prime dry-aged cuts including a 32-ounce porterhouse, Japanese and Australian wagyu, and shellfish towers that skew properly indulgent – think lobster Wellington and three-pound thermidor.
The cocktail program deserves equal billing. Developed with acclaimed mixologists including 2025 Last Slinger Standing champion Ruben Fernandez III, the menu features highlights like the Cleaverman Martini with celery-infused gin and lemongrass tincture.
Here’s where it gets good: through a back corridor lies Filthy, a moody lounge wrapped in burlwood with live piano and servers in tuxedo jackets.
Founder Teddy Myers puts it plainly: ‘‘Downtown Phoenix deserves an institution. Cleaverman was built with soul, swagger, and staying power. If we get it right, it will be timeless and outlast us all.’’
