Clive Collective has ambitious plans to open five new Valley restaurants and bars in 2026. The hospitality group will be doing it without celebrity chef Beau MacMillian.
The former ‘‘Iron Chef America’’ winner and two-time James Beard Award semifinalist known as ‘‘Beau Mac’’ has stepped away as the group’s director of culinary operations.
‘‘I want to give a special thanks to my culinary teams as well and all of the incredible employees,’’ MacMillan said in his announcement. ‘‘It is the people who illuminate restaurants and it was a privilege to work with all of you! I wish you all continued success.’’
Hospitality veterans Mikis Troyan and Justin Massei founded Clive Collective in 2020. The following year, MacMillan left his 23-year tenure at Elements at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain to join them.
The trio debuted Mediterranean concept Cala in Scottsdale in 2022, speakeasy Tell Your Friends (in partnership with Creation Hospitality) in Scottsdale in 2024, and lounge Neon Spur in Tempe last year.
Besides opening a second Cala at PV this year, Clive Collective is launching Kuzu, a Japanese robata concept in north Scottsdale, and three concepts in downtown Phoenix – Ada, a coastal seafood restaurant and bar; Love Call, an elevated neighborhood bar; and Kuza Tori, a smaller version of Kuza.
No word yet on what MacMillan, who’s made frequent appearances on the Food Network, is doing next, but the chef says he’s ‘‘excited to share some new opportunities ahead. Stay tuned.’’
