🍺 After building some of the Valley’s most recognizable Mexican-inspired restaurants, Armando Hernandez and Nadia Holguin are turning their attention to what’s in the glass.
The Tacos Chiwas founders will open Mesa Brewing Company in downtown Mesa, transforming the soon-to-close Oro Brewing into a house brewery that will produce beer not just for a taproom, but for their entire restaurant portfolio.
The news was first reported by Phoenix Magazine.
Oro, which has operated in the space near the northwest corner of Main and Robson since 2016, is closing Jan. 25.
Hernandez and Holguin already are behind three downtown Mesa concepts – Tacos Chiwas, Espiritu, and Main Burgers – as well as Cocina Chiwas and Aruma Cafe in Tempe.
The married couple plan to add TVs for sports fans at Mesa Brewing, which is expected to open in late February or March.
Brewing operations will be a collaboration with nearby Cider Corps, headed by former Uncle Bear’s brewer Andrew Ortega.
