🍖 The sweet smell of smoke will be drifting across southwest Phoenix this weekend as the 74th annual Laveen BBQ returns to Cesar Chavez Park on Saturday – a one-day tasting tour that’s equal parts neighborhood tradition and full-blown food crawl.
Running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the free event brings together more than 20 vendors, including eight dedicated barbecue outfits, serving everything from slow-smoked ribs and brisket to Chicago dogs, tacos, elote, mac and cheese, kettle corn, shaved ice, lemonade, and plenty of desserts.
Expect a crowd: organizers say more than 6,000 attendees typically show up to graze their way through the lineup at the park, which is located on the southwest corner of Baseline and 35th Avenue.
Admission and parking are free.
