🚫 Source, the beloved Mediterranean restaurant and market at Gilbert’s Epicenter at Agritopia, served its final meal Saturday.
The restaurant announced the impending closure Friday on social media, thanking the Gilbert community for the “meals, memories, and moments” shared over the past three-plus years.
Opened in December 2022 by Italian-born chef Claudio Urciuoli and business partner Akshat Sethi, Source brought an ingredient-driven concept to Epicenter – part Mediterranean restaurant, part wine bar, part neighborhood market stocked with freshly baked breads, olive oils, spices, and natural biodynamic wines.
Urciuoli, who built his Valley reputation at Noble Eatery and Pa’La in Phoenix, earned a James Beard Award semifinalist nod for Best Chef Southwest while helming the Gilbert spot.
In its farewell post, Source reflected that what made the restaurant special was its people – noting that many regulars became ‘‘part of our extended family.’’
Source’s closure marks the second high-profile exit from Epicenter in the past 16 months, following the closing of Belly Kitchen + Bar, whose space was eventually taken over by The Mission.
So, East Valley foodies – what concept would you like to see move into Source’s space?
