🚫 Kyoto Bowl, the Japanese rice-bowl restaurant that anchored the strip mall near the southeast corner of Elliot and Priest since 1990, has quietly closed its doors.
For over 35 years, the spot was a reliable lunch haunt for workers and residents across south Tempe, known for its affordable bowls, fresh ingredients, and no-fuss approach to Japanese comfort food.
No announcement appears to have been made, and the reasons for the closure remain unclear.
The good news for regulars: Kyoto Bowl lives on at its other Valley location at Mill and Southern in Tempe.
As for the space itself, it won’t sit empty for long. Signage on the storefront indicates French Toast Cafe, the popular breakfast and brunch spot based in southeast Mesa, is set to open a second location there.
