Burgers, glizzies & 6 a.m. eggs: Pinky’s opens in Phoenix

🍔 Pinky’s, the sports bar and grill that’s been quietly taking shape inside the former Angel’s Trumpet Ale House on the northwest corner of Second Street and McKinley in downtown Phoenix, officially opened its doors at 6 a.m. today.

The project comes from a trio of Phoenix hospitality vets: Robert Cissell, Ariel Bracamonte, and developer Chuckie Duff (Cobra Arcade Bar, Ziggy’s Magic Pizza Shop, Bad Jimmy’s).

The ethos is proudly unpretentious – 150 seats, pool tables, darts, TVs, and a menu engineered to keep your wallet intact.

Burgers are the anchor: One-third-pound patties starting at $11 for a classic cheeseburger, up to $12 for the Cowboy Melt (BBQ sauce, onion rings, sourdough) or the Jefe (jalapeños, green chiles, chili, cheddar).

Not feeling a burger? The Phoenix Cheesesteak ($12) and Chicken Po’ Boy ($11) hold down the “Not Burgers (But Still Fire)” section. Wings come in 6- or 12-count ($8/$13).

Hot dogs are branded ‘‘glizzies’’ (‘‘our glistening weiners are 100% beef & over 6 inches’’), ranging from a $5 Stadium Dog to a $9 SW Chili Dog.

And if you’re feeling ambitious, the Ranch Steak Dinner is a grilled 8-ounce ribeye for $30 – or spring for the “Buy The Farm” ($65) to get two ribeyes and, per the menu, “We’ll Dump the Cole Slaw in the trash for you.”

The real wildcard: breakfast is served all day and all night. We’re talking a Waffle Melt ($10) – eggs and sausage on churro waffle “buns” with maple syrup – and Pinky’s Burrito ($9) with scrambled eggs, hot dog, and pico.

The 99-cent Cowboy Coffee with free refills is a genuine public service.

Open 6 a.m.-midnight Sunday-Thursday and 6 a.m.-1 a.m. Friday-Saturday.
