⛽️ After years of road-trip envy, Arizona gets its own Buc-ee’s today when the Texas-born travel center throws open its doors in Goodyear at 6 a.m., followed by an 8 a.m. ribbon-cutting.
So why does a gas station inspire this level of devotion? Buc-ee’s has built a cult following on a simple formula: massive, spotless stores (often the largest convenience stores in the world), legendarily clean restrooms, and food that’s genuinely worth a detour.
It’s less ‘‘fill up and go’’ and more ‘‘destination in its own right.’’
The menu is the main draw. Top sellers include Beaver Nuggets – addictive, caramel-corn-style bites that have become the chain’s signature snack – along with house-made beef jerky in dozens of flavors and hefty brisket sandwiches that have earned a reputation rivaling dedicated barbecue joints.

Throw in fresh kolaches, fudge, and a wall of fountain drinks, and it’s easy to see why visitors leave with overflowing bags.
The catch: Goodyear is bracing for between 50,000 and 75,000 cars in the first week. The city has set up a dedicated 6.5-mile one-way travel route looping drivers off I-10 at Bullard Avenue, around Lower Buckeye Parkway, and back into the Buc-ee’s lot.
Both I-10/Bullard off-ramps are reserved solely for Buc-ee’s traffic, the eastbound I-10 ramp at Estrella Parkway is closed, and Bullard Avenue between McDowell Road and I-10 is shut down entirely. Exiting traffic can only merge onto eastbound I-10.

Officials are urging carpooling, full tanks of gas (ironic for a gas station run), and bringing your own water and snacks, especially with temperatures expected near 105 degrees.
Restrictions stay in place as long as needed.
Buc-ee’s is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
