🚧 Arcadia’s acclaimed Latin-inspired spot Vecina, which opened in 2019 and was a James Beard semifinalist for the country’s Best New Restaurant, is finally launching a second location.
Chef James Fox confirmed to the Arizona Republic that Vecina will open this August in the former Z’Tejas space on the northwest corner of Hayden and Via de Ventura in McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale.
The new spot will run about two and a half times the size of the flagship with private dining rooms, a mezzanine, and a lakeside patio. The kitchen alone is getting three to four times the space.
Expect most of Vecina’s Arcadia favorites to migrate over, plus a few new additions Fox is eyeing: a returning chicken sandwich, new lunch tacos, crudo, and possibly oysters.
He’s holding off on locking in a full menu until he gets a feel for what McCormick Ranch wants.
Summer multi-course menus
🇮🇹 Sexy Roman inside the W Scottsdale has a new four-course ‘‘Summer in Rome’’ prix fixe nightly menu served family style for $70++ per person. Entree choices include Lumache Alla Vodka, Bucatini, Roasted Salmon, Burrata-Stuffed Tortellini, Chicken Parmesan, or Chicken Piccata.
🍝 Fat Ox in Scottsdale has launched a four-course ‘‘Summer of Pasta’’ menu available Sundays through Thursdays. For $80++ per person, diners choose one of three signature pastas plus one of three entrees – Ora Kinf Salomn, Brick Half Chicken, or 8-ounce Prime Ox Cut Steak.
👩🏽🍳 Ko’Sin at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass is offering rotating three-course summer meals for $33 per person through Sept. 9. Featured entrees are Pork Ribs with Blackberry BBQ Sauce (this week), Mesquite Grilled Pork Chop (July 9-15), and Cedar Wrapped Salmon (July 16-22).
🥩 CHoP Chandler has a new three-course summer prix fixe menu for $60++ per person through August. Entrees options: Petite Filet Mignon, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, North Atlantic Salmon, or Braised Beef Short Ribs.
🍽️ Course in Scottsdale launches a new summer tasting menu Friday through Sept. 23 – eight courses for $175++ per person Friday and Saturday or five courses for $135++ per person Tuesday through Thursday.
AMPlified Hops Beerfest
🍺 While the Valley bakes at 109 degrees this Saturday, Flagstaff will stay cool in the 80s – the perfect excuse for a mountain getaway.
The AMPlified Hops Beerfest returns to Pepsi Amphitheater for the first time since 2018, featuring 14 breweries and beverage brands including local favorites Mother Road and Lumberyard.
Sample craft beer, cider, and non-alcoholic options, then cap the day with a show by Crazy Train, an Ozzy Osbourne tribute band, under the pines.
Tickets are $70 foe general admission and $95 for VIP.
