Maza Mediterranean slips into Faava’s old spot in Chandler

🥙 Change is afoot behind Chandler Fashion Center, where Maza Mediterranean Cuisine quietly has opened. The family-owned halal spot took over the space formerly home to Faava, the Michelin-chef-backed concept from Madhavi Reddy that debuted in March 2025.

Reddy, of course, also founded the well-regarded Feringhee (located next to Faava/Maza) and, most recently, the just-opened Nadu at Desert Ridge Marketplace, both alongside chef Sujan Sarkar.

The Faava-to-Maza transition happened two months ago, with essentially no fanfare – no ribbon-cutting, no social buzz, just a new sign and a new menu.

Maza’s signature plates come with two kebabs, rice, salad, hummus, and tahini, made fresh daily.

Open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.

Bojangles debut postponed

🚧 Bojangles fans, hold your biscuits. The Southern chain’s much-anticipated Gilbert location – its first in Arizona – was originally set to debut July 14, but ABC15 reports the opening has now been pushed back to later this month.

Once open, the spot near the northeast corner of Val Vista and Germann will serve only boneless chicken, following a model recently adopted in other markets.

It’s the first of 20 planned Arizona locations.

Help homeless dogs

🐕 The Maricopa County Shelters are overflowing – 800+ dogs waiting for homes and desperately short on treats.

Zesty Zzeeks Pizza is stepping up: bring a $10+ donation (Milk-Bones, dog toys, or chew treats) to any of Zzeek’s five East Valley locations today through Sunday and score free Breadsticks or Cinnamon Dessert Sticks in return.

One offer per family, but every donation helps stock shelves for pups whose only comfort might just be a treat from you.
