Seafood City makes Arizona debut in Chandler on Thursday

🐟 Arizona’s food scene is about to get a serious upgrade. On Thursday, Seafood City – North America’s largest Filipino supermarket – opens its first Arizona location inside Chandler Fashion Center, and it’s not just a grocery store. It’s a full-blown destination.

We’re talking nearly 66,000 square feet packed with Filipino and Asian groceries from the Philippines, Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam, and beyond, plus a seafood department stocked with live lobster, crab, oysters, shrimp, and whole fish flown in from Hawaii. Buy your catch, get it cleaned and gutted for free, and even have it fried on the spot.

But the real draw might be the food hall – nearly 11,000 square feet and 300-plus seats, the largest Filipino Asian food hall in the state. Expect BBQ skewers, sizzling plates, hot pots, crispy lechon, ube everything, and halo-halo to beat the summer heat. There’s even a Social Hall for parties and karaoke nights.

The grand opening kicks off at 9 a.m. Download the SFC+ app first for exclusive day-one perks.

Problem Lounge opens in Scottsdale

🔥 Problem Lounge – a three-level concept from NFL wide receiver Deebo Samuel and chef Cleashaun Hill – has opened in the long-vacant Barney’s Boathouse building on the southeast corner of Drinkwater and Sixth Avenue in Old Town Scottsdale.

The ground-floor dining room leans into flame-grilled, shareable statement dishes: a two-pound tomahawk ribeye ($175), a double-cut rack of lamb ($98), lobster thermidor ($92), and a whole roasted Dungeness crab ($95).

The upstairs lounge offers cocktails and a late-night social scene, while the rooftop has an open-air hookah lounge with fire features, panoramic Old Town views, and a striking outdoor bar.

Open at 5 p.m. daily.

Campo Italian to close Friday

🚫 Campo Italian Bistro & Bar, Genuine Concepts’ five-year-old restaurant on the northwest corner of Hayden and Via de Ventura in Scottsdale, will close for good after dinner service on Friday.

The modern Italian eatery opened in June 2021 helmed by James Beard Award-winning chef Alex Stratta alongside Genuine Concepts culinary director Jeremy Pacheco, but both have since moved on – Stratta in 2022 and Pacheco earlier this month.

In an Instagram announcement, Genuine Concepts called the closure a difficult call after years of building ties with the neighborhood through cooking classes, community events, and menu staples like Seba’s Meatballs and house-made pastas.

DQ’s Miracle Treat Day

🍨 Thursday is Dairy Queen‘s annual Miracle Treat Day – the rare charity event that asks nothing more of you than eating ice cream. At participating Valley locations, $1 or more from every Blizzard sold goes straight to Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund.

The current Blizzard lineup includes limited-time flavors like Mexican-Style Hot Chocolate and Choco Froster Donut, alongside the usual favorites. And with Thursday’s forecast high of a brutal 114 degrees, a Blizzard run isn’t just for a good cause, it’s basically self-preservation.
