🚫 Sel Bistro has served its last dinner. Chef Branden and May Levine confirmed this weekend that the East Main Street restaurant has closed for good after a decade in business.
Sel opened in Old Town Scottsdale 10 years ago and built its name on chef-driven fine dining before evolving into Sel Bistro, a French-inspired à la carte concept from the husband-and-wife team.
Along the way it became one of the neighborhood’s steadier fixtures – the kind of restaurant regulars pointed to when they wanted to impress out-of-town guests, and the kind that showed up in birthday and anniversary photos all over Old Town.
The end came in two acts, the same way it did for Old Town Tortilla Factory just over a week ago. At the end of July, Sel told guests it was heading into its annual summer break:
‘‘Hey, neighbors – we’re almost ready for our annual summer break. But we have a few more nights together first. So if it’s been a while, you’ve been meaning to stop in, or you simply need a night out without turning on the oven, come see us before we go. Good food, warm hospitality, and a table waiting for you. Last service: Saturday, July 25. We’ll be back Thursday, August 6.’’
That return date has now come and gone. Instead of reopening, Sel Bistro announced:
‘‘After 10 wonderful years, it is with heavy hearts that we share that Sel Bistro will be closing its doors permanently. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your celebrations, special moments, and evenings around the table. It has been an honor to serve this community. Thank you for being part of our story.’’
No word yet on what, if anything, is planned for the Main Street space.
