🌮 There’s a new reason to work up an appetite in Downtown Chandler, and it comes with a serve. Lomas Cocina de México has opened on the southwest corner of Arizona and Chandler Boulevard, tucked into Padeland, the padel and pickleball club that celebrated its grand opening last Thursday.
You actually walk through Lomas to reach the courts. The building formerly was home to Look Dine-In Cinemas, which closed in February 2025.
Lomas leans hard into a specific mood: Mexican social clubs of the 1980s, reimagined for a modern crowd that’s just as likely to be in athletic gear as it is dressed for dinner. Think warm, sun-washed interiors, retro club energy, and a menu built for lingering whether it’s post-match recovery or a full night out.
What’s on the menu
Breakfast starts strong with chilaquiles and enchiladas, a trio of Sonora-style omelets, and a $19 chile relleno de pan de elote that stuffs a poblano with corn cake and smothers it in creamy sauce and corn kernels.
For dinner, the entrées swing from a $27 camarones al ajillo to a genuinely showstopping $62 parrillada ribeye plated with a baked potato, fire-roasted cheese-stuffed peppers, and house-made tortillas.
The taco program covers both bases: clásicos like carne asada and al pastor at $12-$15, and especialidad tacos like the quesabirria and a shrimp-loaded torito that push closer to $16-$21.
The raw bar deserves its own mention. Shrimp aguachile, hamachi tiradito, and a blue crab tostada all sit alongside a properly composed shrimp cocktail, giving Lomas a coastal counterpoint to its heartier grilled dishes.
Drinks also are ambitious
The cocktail program splits into mezcal and tequila lineups, with a Green Jacket (wild tobalá mezcal, cucumber, jalapeño, worm salt rim) standing out alongside classics like a Tommy’s Margarita and a Paloma Lomas.
There’s also a bacanora section – Sonoran Mule, Desert Rose – that’s a nice nod to regional specificity you don’t see on many Mexican restaurant menus in the Valley.
Round it out with aguas frescas, Mexican bottled sodas, and a solid beer list, and there’s something here regardless of what kind of night you’re having.
Open noon-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday.
