🌮 TPQ Foods, the team behind the beloved Tortas Paquimé, is opening its newest concept, Paquimex, on Friday, Aug. 28, on the southwest corner of 51st Avenue and Olive in Glendale.
Owner Omar Alvarez first brought the flavors of Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, to Phoenix in 2002 with Tortas Paquimé, growing it into a five-location favorite across the Valley.
Paquimex takes that foundation and reimagines it as an elevated fast-casual concept, adding a curated cocktail program and a more polished dining environment while keeping the northern Mexican flavors that built the brand’s following.
What’s on the menu
The menu spans all-day dining, from sweet and savory breakfast plates and griddled specialties to the torta sandwiches that made the original famous, plus street-style tacos, crispy vampiros, and slow-braised meats on house-made bread and tortillas.
The expanded kitchen adds seafood crudos, melted cheese dips, and shareable small plates, all served in a space that includes a shaded patio with yard games for families and groups.
First-ever full bar
Notably, Paquimex marks the first time TPQ Foods has rolled out a full bar. The cocktail lineup leans agave-forward with drinks like the Spicy Cucumber Cilantro Margarita, Mezcal Mule, and a chamoy-rimmed Mexican Candy cocktail, alongside espresso Carajillos, lavender vodka drinks, and a Caguamiche built with Clamato, salsas negras, and Tajín.
Non-alcoholic options get plenty of attention too, with a slushy bar (mango strawberry, Aperol, piña colada, plus a kid-friendly Jolly Rancher slushy), scratch-made aguas frescas like horchata and jamaica, glass-bottled Mexican sodas, and desserts including Pan Perdido and Flan Napolitano.
