🚫 It’s been a rough month for Tres Leches Café. The Mexican coffeehouse, known to regulars as ‘‘3LC,’’ has closed its south Phoenix location after six years in business, owner Jose ‘‘ET’’ Rivera announced last week in a social media video.
The good news: staff weren’t losing their jobs – they were shifting over to 3LC’s Coronado location, which opened just this past February at the northeast corner of McDowell and 13th Street.
Rivera pointed to Arizona’s brutal summer slowdown as the reason behind the closure, saying volume just hasn’t been there.
But the other shoe dropped Wednesday when 3LC posted on social media that it now plans to close all operations by the end of 2026. There’s no closing date yet for Coronado.
It’s a tough follow-up to an already bumpy few years for the brand, which shuttered its longtime downtown Phoenix spot last January after a two-year landlord dispute.
