There’s a new Thai spot on the southeast corner of Miller and Pinnacle Peak in north Scottsdale, and Baan Thai‘s menu goes well beyond the usual pad Thai.
The standards are here: five curries, drunken noodles, and pad see ew. But the fun is further down the list. Start with crispy pork shoulder and its smoky jaew dipping sauce ($16), or the Nam Tok Ribeye salad with toasted rice powder ($22).
Noodle-soup fans should go for the Tom Yum Noodle Deluxe ($23), which comes loaded with shrimp, pork loaf, and crispy wonton
The chef’s specialties are where the kitchen shows off. There’s a golden-fried whole pompano with tamarind or ginger sauce ($25), spicy catfish with krachai ($23), and Pad Kee Mao Spaghetti Talay, a Thai-Italian mash-up ($25).
Baan Thai is open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 4-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and noon-9 p.m. Sunday.
