6 heat levels, 1 waiver: Angry Chickz opens in Avondale

Avondale just got a lot spicier. Angry Chickz has opened its first Avondale restaurant onthe southeast corner of McDowell and 103rd Avenue. It’s the Nashville hot chicken brand’s fourth Arizona spot and 47th nationwide.

First, pick your pain. There are six heat levels, starting with Country, which brings all the flavor without the fire, and climbing to the famously intense Angry level, which requires signing a waiver before you order.

Then pick your vehicle. The combos include two sliders with slaw, pickles and fries; two tenders over white bread with pickles and fries; a slider-and-tender combo; or two tenders over buttery rice with slaw and pickles.

Bowl fans should look for the Angry Mac, which stacks crispy tenders over seasoned fries and creamy mac and cheese, or the Angry Fries, topped with slaw, pickles and Angry Chickz Sauce.

Open 10 a.m.-midnight daily.
