Scottsdale’s oldest bar is throwing itself a birthday bash. The Rusty Spur Saloon will celebrate its 75th anniversary on Saturday with an all-day party on the southwest corner of Main and Brown in Old Town.
The building has a history that predates the saloon. It was built in 1921 as the Farmer’s State Bank of Scottsdale, the city’s first bank, which closed during the Great Depression.
After stints as the Chamber of Commerce and a real estate office, it became the Rusty Spur in 1951. The original bank vault is still there and now works as the walk-in cooler.
Live music kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday and runs into the night, with Psychobilly Rodeo taking the stage at 8 p.m. Throwback 75-cent Coors Banquets and free commemorative koozies will be available while supplies last.
There will also be giveaways and limited-edition anniversary T-shirts, and Western attire is encouraged.
The party also doubles as a fundraiser. Guests can help fill a giant “75” on the west wall with dollar bills for the Phoenix Children’s Foundation Hope Fund. It’s a nod to the saloon’s famous bill-covered walls, which raised $7,000 for the foundation in 2025.
