Starbucks closing 250 stores, including 3 in East Valley

Starbucks is closing 250 stores in the U.S. and Canada that are underperforming financially. They include three in the Valley, all in the East Valley:

• 54th Street, south of Ray, in Chandler
• Northwest corner of Val Vista and Southern in Mesa
• Northwest corner of Ellsworth and Main in Mesa

The stores’ last day will be Saturday.

The 250 locations account for about 1% of the chain’s stores in the two countries. Starbucks also closed about 1% of its stores at this time last year.
