Set your alarms. Two weeks ago, I told you that Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille in Gilbert was planning a 79-cent ‘‘Flashback Friday’’ lunch, with the date TBA. Well, the date is out, and it’s tomorrow: Friday, Oct. 2.
It’s the Arizona debut of the chain’s #FlashbackFriday tradition, and the price is a nod to 1979, the year Perry’s opened as a family-owned butcher shop in Houston. (Pork chop prices have crept up slightly since then.)
Here’s the drill: Doors open at 10:30 a.m. at Perry’s Gilbert, 1865 S. Santan Village Parkway at Northside at SanTan Village. The first 200 dine-in guests get a card good for one 79-cent lunch, with 100 cards for each of two dishes:
- Famous Pork Chop Friday Lunch: a lunch cut of Perry’s signature chop with whipped potatoes, homemade applesauce and freshly baked bread.
- Caramelized Prime Rib Steak Sandwich: a newer addition to the menu, served with French fries and horseradish cream.
Cards are first-come, first-served, and once a dish’s 100 cards are gone, they’re gone. In other words, the early bird gets the chop.
The fine print: You must be 21 or older, and no reservations are accepted. No saving spots for your buddy who’s ‘‘five minutes away’’ either – if they’re not in line, they’re not getting a card. And cards must be redeemed before noon, so this isn’t a stash-it-for-later situation.
Miss out? Both dishes are on Perry’s regular Friday lunch menu, served 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Friday is the only day Perry’s serves lunch.) You’ll just pay 2026 prices.
