Stage 12 West, the live entertainment venue replacing 12 West Brewing in downtown Mesa, will hold its grand opening at 11 a.m. today.
As I reported earlier, the project comes from Valley restaurateurs Jim Sampley (The Stillery, Duke’s Roadhouse) and Jolie Boucher (Jolie’s Place), who teamed up in June to open Bourbon Jim’s in west Chandler.
That same month, 12 West Brewing closed for what it called a “summer break,” promising a new concept would take over the building this fall.
Stage 12 West is pitching itself as a music venue first, with what it describes as professional-grade acoustics, high-fidelity sound, and laser displays to go with the live acts.
What’s on the menu
The food side is more modest. The opening menu posted online lists just nine items, three each of appetizers, entrees, and desserts:
- Shareables: spicy chicken wings, loaded nachos (pictured), and a bruschetta trio.
- Entrees: grilled salmon fillet, a BBQ pulled pork sandwich, and vegetarian pasta primavera.
- Desserts: chocolate lava cake, classic cheesecake, and apple crisp.
Whether that list grows once the kitchen settles in remains to be seen.
Speakeasy debuts next week
The basement speakeasy that Boucher has been developing now has a name and a date. Jolie’s Secret will open downstairs on Friday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m., a week after the main floor.
That’s a bit behind the original plan, which had the speakeasy targeting late September and opening first.
