Nobuo Fukuda’s Hai Noon goes quiet in south Scottsdale

Hai Noon, the Japanese-meets-Southwest restaurant tucked inside the Sonder The Mariposa hotel on McDowell Road, has ended regular service.

The restaurant actually broke the news on Instagram in mid-September:

“As of this week we will no longer have our normal service hours,” the post read, thanking guests for their support and asking them to “stay tuned for future updates, events and collaborations.” It signed off with a cheerful “Kanpai!”

Hai Noon opened in 2023 as a collaboration between James Beard Award-winning chef Nobuo Fukuda (pictured), formerly of Nobuo at Teeter House, and owners Sloane McFarland and Ian Rosales. Its menu wove Japanese technique together with Southwestern ingredients.

The announcement doesn’t call the closure permanent or give a reason, and the mention of events and collaborations suggests the space may not stay dark for good. For now, though, dinner service is over.
