Sonora’s live-fire favorite Quiriego lands in north Scottsdale

North Scottsdale has a new destination for Sonoran food. Quiriego, a rustic kitchen from Hermosillo, has opened in the old Carrabba’s Italian Grill building on the northeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.

It’s the eye-catching concept’s first location in the U.S. Laurshan Construction handled the build.

The draw here is the fire. Much of the dinner menu comes off the grill, but the bar and bakery get as much attention as the kitchen.

What’s on the menu

Start with the Aguachile Güerito ($28), raw shrimp in a smoky roasted-chile aguachile, or the Cabbage al Fuego, charred cabbage over a habanero-almond sauce. Then go big. Options include a $120 Snake River Farms ribeye parrillada with charro or Sonoran-style refried beans, a pork chop with three moles ($82), and a $380 tomahawk for the table.

Naturally fermented pizzas are on the menu too, including a Sonoran pie with skirt steak, green chile and chiltepín.

Save room for the bakery case. It’s stocked with conchas, kouign-amann, and tres leches cake, and the bar pours a horchata espresso martini.

Hours

Quiriego serves dinner from 4-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 4-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
