Latha & Beginner’s Luck pair up for ‘Sessions’ dinner on Nov. 17

Beginner’s Luck in Old Town Scottsdale is turning dinner into a block party for the senses. On Tuesday, Nov. 17, the second installment of its ‘‘Sessions’’ series will pair James Beard Award semifinalist Bernie Kantak (right) with Digby Stridiron (left) of Phoenix’s Latha for an Afro-Caribbean menu.

The two cooked together earlier this year at a James Beard Foundation Taste America dinner.

The menu will include:

  • Plantain gnocchi with tamarind barbecue pork
  • Griot pineapple piri piri shrimp with pumpkin and okra callaloo stew over rice grits
  • Tamarind barbacoa roti with fingerling and cassava dahl
  • A dessert from Chef Ben Cadriel

Virgin Islands artist Lucien Downes’ work will hang inside, and live music will play on the patio. The full menu is $50 per person, or order à la carte at $10-$15 a dish. Seatings start at 5 p.m.
