Out West Restaurant Group, Outback Steakhouse’s largest franchisee, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week. The San Diego-based company runs 61 Outbacks across five Western states, including seven in the Valley.
Outback parent Bloomin’ Brands has made a $26.3 million opening bid for nearly all of Out West’s assets. That price could rise if other buyers step in.
Bloomin’ is also putting up $5.5 million to keep the restaurants running during the process.

The Valley locations in the deal:
- 1734 E. Southern Ave. in Tempe
- 5605 W. Bell Road in Glendale
- 4715 E. Cactus Road in Phoenix
