2½ years after New Year’s Eve fire, The Hub finally set to reopen June 21

After two and a half years dealing with insurance issues, construction delays, and equipment shortages, The Hub Grill & Bar finally is ready to reopen its original location in east Mesa on Wednesday, June 21.

The history: The large sports bar, which debuted in 2011 on the northeast corner of Sossaman and Baseline, suffered a fire on New Year’s Eve 2020 that caused significant roof and water damage.

The quote: ‘‘We just ask for some patience in the beginning as we reopen,’’ owner Kenny Klaus says. ‘‘We will have a lot of familiar faces, but some new (0nes) and, of course, a new building. So we’ll beg for a little forgiveness up front.’’

Other locations: The Hub opened a second location at Stapley and Baseline in Mesa in 2016, followed by an Ahwatukee location in January 2022 and another in northeast Mesa in August 2022.
