Rosie McCaffrey’s Irish Pub to close this weekend after 20 years in Phoenix

Rosie McCaffrey’s Irish Pub will permanently close this weekend after 20 years in central Phoenix, owner Seamus McCaffrey announced on social media.

The history: McCaffrey opened the Valley’s first Irish pub, The Dubliner, nearly 40 years ago, and then opened Seamus McCaffrey’s in downtown Phoenix. Rosie McCaffrey’s debuted on the northwest corner of Camelback and 10th Street in 2002.

The quote: ‘‘Throughout the years I worked hard to help expand the local Irish community, bring Guinness on draught to Arizona, and ultimately bring a little piece of home to the desert,’’ McCaffrey wrote.

Last hurrah: McCaffrey invited all patrons to celebrate Rosie McCaffrey’s final weekend Friday and Saturday.
