Artisan ice cream shop Sweet Republic is celebrating its 15th anniversary with free scoops from 8-9:45 p.m. Wednesday at all three of its Valley locations.
The history: Sweet Republic was founded in Scottsdale in 2008 by Jan Wichayanuparp and Helen Yung. They added locations in Phoenix in 2014 and Tempe in 2020.
- Sweet Republic has been named one of the country’s top ice cream shops by the Food Network, Bon Appetit, Time Magazine, and USA Today, among others.
The flavors: More than 20 at each store, including four vegan sorbets. The best-seller is Salted Butter Caramel Swirl.
- Unusual flavors include Black Pepper Cherry, Cortez Cold Brew, Mine Run (honeycomb and chocolate flakes, pictured), and Ditto Honey (Arizona honey and walnuts).
Did you know: Wichayanuparp and Yung met during investment bank training in New York in 2001.
