‘‘Plate and Pour,’’ Arizona PBS’s replacement for its popular TV show ‘‘Check, Please! Arizona,’’ makes its debut at 7 tonight on Channel 8.
The 30-minute show is hosted by Valley chef Mark Tarbell (pictured), who also hosted the final season of ‘‘Check, Please’’ last year.
According to Arizona PBS: ‘‘Each week, Tarbell will take viewers inside some of the most interesting places to eat in the Southwest, visiting with local chefs, restaurateurs and the many people who make the region one of the most dynamic dining destinations in the country.’’
In tonight’s episode, Tarbell interviews chef Matt Carter at modern Italian restaurant Fat Ox in Scottsdale and visits Queen Creek butcher shop The Pork Shop.
It’s an entirely different format than ‘‘Check, Please,’’ where each episode featured three different Valley residents reviewing three local restaurants.
Launched in 2011, ‘‘Check, Please’’ consistently was the Arizona station’s No. 1-rated local program.
