It’s a big week for Cartel Brewery in Tempe.

On Thursday, the recently upgraded brewhouse (now with a 7-barrel system) debuts its new tasting room at Ash and University.

The room is meant to provide a more intimate and quiet option to Cartel’s busy coffeehouse.

The tasting room will be open 5-9 p.m. Thursdays. There are four tap handles, all dedicated to Cartel beers.

Besides its flagship D.P.A (Desert Pale Ale), Cartel currently has three other beers on tap: Coffee Brown, F.Y.I.T.M Imperial Ale, and Amber Rye.

And to celebrate this Thursday, Cartel will introduce a new beer, 480 Session Ale.

Then, on Saturday, the brewery will kick off “Backdoor Brunch at Cartel” from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Each Saturday through May 16, a different food truck will park at the brewery’s back door, and there will be large community tables set up inside.

The scheduled food trucks are:

  • Saturday: United Steaks of Cheese
  • April 18: Grilled Addiction
  • April 25: United Steaks of Cheese
  • May 2: Panini People
  • May 9: Grilled Addiction
  • May 16: Roasted Shallot

Each truck will put together a special brunch menu. Cartel coffee and beer also will be available.
