My Nana’s Salsa Challenge: Just $8 for all the chips & salsa you can eat

My Nana's Salsa Challenge Tempe AZChandler Mexican restaurant El Palacio will defend its 2011 grand championship when the 28th annual My Nana’s Salsa Challenge returns to Tempe Beach Park on Saturday.

The event, which runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., features professional and amateur salsa makers competing in two divisions (hot and mild) and three categories (individual, business, and restaurant).

My Nana's Salsa Challenge Tempe AZFor $8 admission (or $50 for VIP, although only a few remain), attendees are able to sample as many salsas as they want.

El Palacio won both the hot and mild divisions in the restaurant category last year, as well as the overall crown. See all the winner’s here.

Some Like It Hot won People’s Choice.

The festival also includes a margarita mix-off from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

There also will be two stages with live music, a food court, and children’s activities.
