Red Robin unveils beer milkshake

By Jess Harter Tuesday, September 11, 2012

It’s a big day at Red Robin: The national burger chain launches its beer milkshake today.

The concoction is made with Sam Adams Octoberfest beer, soft-serve vanilla ice cream, vanilla syrup and caramel.

The shake, which costs $5, will be available through Nov. 11.

Beer shakes are a growing trend as more “upscale” chains try to set themselves apart from fast-food chains that do not sell alcohol.

TGI Friday’s sells a milkshake made with Guinness around St. Patrick’s Day.
