AZ Wine Lifestyles (formerly AZ Vines & Wines) drops magazine, but plans to keep website operating

Some sad news from the local food-and-drink publishing world: AZ Wine Lifestyles, formerly known as AZ Vines & Wines, is discontinuing its quarterly magazine.

Owners Rhonni and Josh Moffitt made the announcement on the publication’s website and on Facebook:

As some of you already know, Josh and I have made the very difficult decision to close down the print component of AZ Wine Lifestyle. I’m sure you can understand how emotional this is for me. Financially, though, we realized that it just isn’t possible to continue into 2014. We made it through six years which we’re very proud of.

AZWineLifestylesAZ Vines & Wines debuted in 2008 – just as the state’s wine industry was taking off – as an eight-page brochure for Josh’s “Vineyard Land” real estate brokerage. It grew into a 116-page magazine about food, wine, and travel in Arizona.

This fall, it changed its name to AZ Wine Lifestyles to avoid a conflict with a similarly named publication.

Rhonni says she will continue continue to operate the website, social media, and weekly newsletter:

These are things that will take less time and money to operate. I can’t express enough to all of you how much I appreciate the support you’ve all shown me over the years through this endeavor and I’m so happy about the friendships I’ve made along the way. We will still be some of AZ wine’s biggest cheerleaders and hope to see you at events around the state.
