Thursday: Beaujolais Nouveau Day at Cuisine & Wine Bistro

By Jess Harter Wednesday, November 14, 2018

Cuisine and Wine Bistro celebrates Beaujolais Nouveau Day from 3-10 p.m. Thursday at its Chandler and Gilbert wine bars.

In the Beaujolais region of France, the annual holiday on the third Thursday of November marks the release of the first new wines – red wines made from Gamay grapes – of the season.

Georges Duboeuf, founder of one of France’s largest wine merchants, is credited with turning the local holiday into a worldwide phenomenon.

Cuisine & Wine Bistro will be offering tastings of the Beaujolais nouveau from Duboeuf’s own vineyard, Les Vins Georges Duboeuf, from 4-7 p.m.

Due to the popularity of the events, reservations are strongly recommended. Call 480-275-6700 in Chandler or 480-497-1422 in Gilbert.

Post image for Craft 64 in Old Town Scottsdale introduces its 1st branded wine

Craft 64, the Old Town Scottsdale pizzeria and craft beer bar, has released its first-ever wine.

Unlike many ‘‘branded’’ wines that simply are a re-branding of an existing wine, Craft 64 created the Pinot noir.

Co-owner and sommelier Josh Ivey (pictured) sourced the juice from three vineyards – Adams, Dukes, and Jubilee – in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, then oversaw the blending and barreling.

The wine features notes of cherry, raspberry, brown sugar, and baking spices and was aged in third- and fourth-use French oak barrels.

It sells for $15 per glass or $55 per bottle.

Besides the wine, Craft 64 also brews its own line of exclusive beers at SunUp Brewery in Phoenix.

Post image for 3 ounces for $400: Try one of the world’s best pinot noirs at Bourbon & Bones

If you’re a wine aficionado, Bourbon & Bones in Old Town Scottsdale is offering you the opportunity to scratch an acclaimed vintage off your to-try bucket list.

The restaurant is selling one of the world’s best pinot noirs – 2015 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanee St-Vivant – by the glass.

The cost for a 3-ounce pour of the French wine? Just $400.

Bottles of the vintage sell online in $2,700-$3,300 range. It’s believed this is the first time the wine has been sold by the glass.

“This wine is without a doubt one of the finest pinot noir wines in the world,” Bourbon & Bones general manager Frank Schneider says in a media release.

A little out of your price range? Not to worry. Bourbon & Bones sells other glasses of wine starting at $6 during happy hour 4-6 p.m. weekdays.
