Steak & Stone in Gilbert closes, owners promise new concept

Steak and Stone, a steakhouse and BBQ restaurant, has closed its Gilbert location after just one year in business.

The restaurant was best known for steaks cut in-house and cooked by diners on a 500-degree stone at their table.

According to the restaurant’s social media posts, a remodeling and ‘‘change of concept’’ is in the works.

Steak and Stone joins a growing list of restaurants that have failed in the Gilbert Town Square building on Gilbert Road between Ray and Warner.

Other occupants in recent years have included American Taphouse, BoomBozz Pizza, and Boston’s Gourmet Pizza.

Steak and Stone’s original three-year-old location in northeast Mesa remains open.
