Lori Hassler, owner/chef of acclaimed Radda Caffe-Bar in Scottsdale a decade-plus ago, has reemerged with a new project: The Farish House.
Hassler and her husband, Eric, just opened the bistro and wine bar in a 120-year-old brick house on the southwest corner of Third Street and Garfield in downtown Phoenix.
The historic building formerly was home to Roosevelt Tavern, which closed in 2012. It unsuccessfully tried to reopen last summer as a bar called The Monocle.
Farish House’s specialties include:
- Cassoulet: Casserole made with white beans, pork, sausage, and duck confit ($18, pictured)
- Rib-Eye: 8-ounce Angus ribeye with port reduction cream sauce, roasted fingerling potatoes, and sauteed kale ($29)
- Le Mac: Creamy mac ’n’ cheese with gouda and sharp cheddar, topped with crispy onions ($12)
- Peposo: Chianti short rib beef stew with onions, carrots, tomatoes, and peppers in a rich gravy with gnocchi ($18)
The bar features pre-Prohibition era wine estates and cocktails.
The Farish House is open 4-10 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
