Chilte’s Smith named a ‘best new chef’ by Food and Wine & other news

👨‍🍳 Chilte co-owner Lawrence ‘‘LT’’ Smith (pictured) has been named one of the 13 Best New Chefs in the U.S. by Food and Wine. His Mexican restaurant, which opened at the Egyptian Motor Hotel in downtown Phoenix last year, was named one of the best new restaurants of 2023 by Bon Appetit and Esquire.

🏆 Mitch Lyons from Highball edged Tiarnan O’Gara of Steak 44 in the finals of the Killer Bartending Championship hosted by Killer Whale Sex Club in Phoenix. The bracketed competition had 16 bartenders vying for a $10,000 prize.

🥪 Frank’s New York Style Deli in Phoenix has the best sandwiches in Arizona according to a Yelp list based on ratings and reviews. Frank’s signature sammie is The Tony made with genoa salami, pepperoni, and hot capicola.

🍌 Gilbert dessert shop Toasted Mallow is partnering with the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children to donate 20% of all banana desserts purchased in-store or online through Sept. 28 to children and families affected by pediatric cancer.
