Iconic steakhouse Durant’s to reopen Dec. 17 in midtown Phoenix

🥩 One of Phoenix’s most iconic dining rooms is almost back. Durant’s – the red-velvet, martini-soaked steakhouse that helped shape the city’s dining identity – has announced its much-anticipated reopening date.

After a nine-month-long pause, a change in ownership, and a careful refresh that aims to honor everything Valley diners have loved for 75 years, the historic steakhouse will reopen Wednesday, Dec. 17, according to its website.

The Mastros – brothers Mike and Jeff, along with their father Dennis Mastro and partner Scott Troilo – have taken the reins, adding Durant’s to a portfolio that includes Steak 44, Ocean 44, and Dominick’s Steakhouse. Their stated mission: preserve the soul of Durant’s while quietly elevating its future.

Fans entering through the iconic back-alley kitchen door will find the signature red-leather booths, low lighting, and Rat Pack swagger intact. Behind the scenes, the team made targeted upgrades to the kitchen, refreshed infrastructure, and fine-tuned the menu.

Expect classic steaks, stiff cocktails, and the same room where generations of Phoenix power brokers have sealed deals and celebrated milestones since Jack Durant opened the doors in 1950.

After nearly a year of waiting, Valley diners finally will be able to step back inside and see what’s new, what’s restored, and what still feels exactly like Durant’s.
