MXSW guide on where to get your holiday tamales

🫔 Holiday tamale season is here. Whether you’re team red chile beef, green corn, or something a little more adventurous, here are some of the most popular places to score a dozen before they sell out.

The Tamale Store: The north Phoenix store no longer is accepting pre-orders, but tamales are available to walk-in customers. There are 17 flavors, including chicken mole, Baja seafood, and Southwest veggie. $45 per dozen.

Los Sombreros: The south Scottsdale restaurant offers four flavors – red chile beef, green corn, chicken tomatillo, and chipotle pork – that can be mixed and matched. $52 per dozen.

Old El Paso Tamales: The north Mesa store sells five flavors – green chile chicken, green chile and cheese, shredded red beef, shredded pork, and sweet corn.

Carolina’s Mexican Food: You can order cooked or frozen tamales in two flavors – red chile beef or green chile corn – from any of five Valley locations. $27.95 (frozen) or $43.95 (cooked) per dozen.

La Ristra New Mexican Kitchen: Red chile beef or green chile corn tamales are available at either the Gilbert or Chandler restaurant. $35 per dozen. Add a pint of enchilada sauce for $7.

Mama Olga’s Tamales: Choose from four flavors – red chile beef, green chile chicken, jalapeno and cheese, or their signature red chile pork – at the Sunnyslope eatery. $27.25 per dozen.

Espo’s Mexican Food: Order red chile beef or green chile corn tamales from the Chandler restaurant. $30 per dozen.
