Where you can go green on St. Patrick’s Day

Many restaurants will be serving corned beef and green beer Sunday. For something a little different, try these places:

🧇 Start the day with green Belgian waffles in a green vanilla glaze ($12.50) at The Bread and Honey House in Arcadia.

🥞 Prefer pancakes? U.S. Egg has Irish Creme Pancakes with green sprinkles (two for $13.99) at all six Valley locations.

🌮 Recreo Cantina in downtown Chandler is selling $5 Irish tacos filled with corned beef, grilled onions, and potatoes.

🍔 STK Steakhouse in Scottsdale has $6 corned beef sliders with a couple of tots. Kona Grill’s three locatons also have $6 sliders during happy hour.

🧀 You can get free chips and queso if you wear green into any of Twin Peaks’ five Valley locations.

🥤 Raising Cane’s is selling its annual green Leprechaun Lemonade. You can get a free 22-ounce one if you join their app’s loyalty club.

🕎🎅🏼 The Hungry Monk in Chandler hosts beer chef Gidi Goldberg’s 13th annual Jewmas – a hybrid Hanukkah-Christmas party featuring a special menu of brisket, latkes, and craft beers – starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

There is no cover charge. Food specials and beers will be sold on an à la carte basis.

The Hungry Monk’s regular menu also will be available.

Skysill Chalet pops up at The Westin Tempe

🎄 The Westin Tempe is hosting the Skysill Chalet, a holiday pop-up bar, at its 18th-floor Skysill Rooftop Lounge, the Valley’s highest open-air rooftop bar.

You can get a 90-minute reservation to enjoy specialty cocktails and shareable bites at a candle-lit table. Prices start at $20 per person.

Reservations are available 4-10 p.m. daily through Jan. 7.

It’s time to order your holiday tamales

With Thanksgiving behind us, it’s time to look forward to the December holiday season. Which means it’s time to start thinking about tamales.

Two MXSW sponsors are among the numerous local businesses offering pre-made tamales:

Serrano’s Mexican Restaurants along with its new fast-casual concept Pronto, are selling red beef/pork and green corn tamales for $34.99 per dozen through New Year’s Eve.

They’re also offering a month-long deal on gift cards – $5 for every $25 purchased.

La Ristra New Mexican Kitchen is selling red chile beef and green chile corn tamales for $30 per dozen.

Tempe boutique bakery Tracy Dempsey Originals is selling do-it-yourself ice cream sundae kits for Father’s Day.

What’s included:

  • Four fleur de sel caramel swirl fudge brownies
  • One quart of house-made vanilla bean ice cream
  • Hot fudge sauce
  • Salted caramel sauce
  • Candied nut topping and sprinkles

Servings: The 4-inch-square brownies may be cut in halves or quarters to make up to 16 servings.

Cost: $65.

☘️ Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Hundreds of restaurants and bars Valleywide are offering specials today on everything from corned beef (pictured at Miracle Mile Deli in Phoenix) to Car Bombs.

You can start your day with a $14 green Bloody Mary at Hash Kitchen, and wrap it up with a whiskey-laced Irish coffee at Cuisine & Wine Bistro in Chandler.

Green beer will be plentiful – Helluva Brewing in Chandler is doing one for the first time – and there are pub crawls in Tempe and Scottsdale.

Sweet Republic has a new Irish Slammer ice cream. Even Mexican food fans can get in on the action with $4 green chile beef burritos at Someburros.

Cuisine & Wine Bistro chef-owner Fabrice Buschtetz is planning a special a la carte menu for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve diners.

  • Starters: Baguette and Butter (Truffle Butter available), Oeuf en Meurette, Crawfish Cappuccino, Escargots Façon Fabrice, Auvergnian Salad.
  • Main courses: Beef Wellington (pictured), Chilean Sea Bass Papillote, New Bedford Scallops with Risotto, Roasted Duck Breast in Black Cherry Demi-Glace, Bone-In Veal Chop with Morel Mushrooms.
  • Desserts: Peanut Butter Chocolate Moelleux, Mousse Citron Meringué, Espresso Creme Brulée Citron Confit.

Downtown Phoenix cocktail bar Bitter & Twisted hosts its annual tiki-themed Sippin’ Santa pop-up tonight through Christmas Eve.

Sippin’ Santa: The pop-up will feature a tiki hideaway decor and a special cocktails, such as the Jingle Bird, Rudolph’s Rum Rhapsody, and Undertow Toddy.

  • B&T’s exclusive holiday-themed tiki glasses and barware will be available for purchase.

New food menu: The pop-up also kicks off B&T’s new food menu from the Jamaican gurus at The Breadfruit.

  • New dishes include jerk pork, Red Stripe curried shrimp, and cinnamon-dusted sweet plantains.

If you go: Sippin’ Santa operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted.

Monday is Pi Day (3/14), which means OHSO Brewery locations will be holding their annual pairing of 11 pie-inspired beers with 11 pies from Pie Snob starting at 11 a.m. Monday and continuing while supplies last. In downtown Mesa, Cider Corps, normally closed Mondays, will open at 3:14 p.m. to tap three new flavors – Brambleberry Pie, Cherry Peach Pie, and Key Lime Pie. Eight-ounce pours will be $3.14.
