Frank & Lupe’s is back – just not in Old Town Scottsdale

🌶️ After quietly closing its doors in early 2025, Frank & Lupe’s – a New Mexican comfort-food institution that’s been feeding Old Town Scottsdale since 1995 – is officially back.

Under the care of new owner Piero Aviles, the restaurant has reopened at The Shops at Gainey Ranch on the southeast corner of Scottsdale and Doubletree Ranch in central Scottsdale.

The original Bernal family’s scratch-made recipes from Socorro, N.M., remain at the center of the menu – fiery green chile enchiladas, carne asada burritos, and a smooth housemade poblano salsa regulars have been missing.

The new space swaps the original’s traditional décor for a modern Southwest look, anchored by a cozy bar and intimate dining room.

Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

As for Frank & Lupe’s old spot near Goldwater and Indian School? That’s becoming Ponderosa House, a new concept from Karsen’s Grill owner Jacob Finley.
