12 West closes Mesa location for summer, teases new concept

🍺 Something’s stirring on Main Street in downtown Mesa. 12 West Brewing‘s two-story flagship location has shut its doors for what the brewery is calling a ‘‘summer break,’’ and the timing has the rumor mill running hot.

In a social post, 12 West thanked fans for six years downtown before dropping the real news: ‘‘a fresh, exciting concept will take the stage at 12 West Main this fall.’’ No further details yet – and the brewery isn’t saying what’s behind the curtain.

This isn’t 12 West’s first brush with buzz. The Mesa location made headlines last year after a controversial comedy act drew neo-Nazi protesters outside its doors, a saga the brewery has worked to move past.

Loyal drinkers don’t need to fret, though: the original, smaller taproom at Barnone in Gilbert, where the brewery got its start in 2016, remains open and fully stocked with all your 12 West favorites.
