🚫 Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, a south Tempe staple for more than two decades, has served its final meal.
The restaurant, tucked into the southwest corner of Elliot and Hardy, announced on Facebook Saturday that it would close its doors that same evening at 9 p.m., giving regulars little time to make it in for one last hibachi dinner.
‘‘Last Call tonight, we will be closing after 22 years at 9pm,’’ the post read. ‘‘Thank you for all the support & memories over the years, and letting us celebrate special occasions with you.’’
For many Valley families, Kobe was the go-to spot for birthdays, graduations, and anniversaries – the kind of place where the chef’s onion volcano never got old.
No reason for the closure was given.
