🥯 For Phoenix residents who have been craving their weekly Bagelfeld’s breakfast for the past four months, your wait is over. The acclaimed bakery’s original Thomas Road location is reopening on Wednesday, following an early-morning roof fire that shut it down back in April.
The flagship will start on a limited schedule, open Wednesday through Saturday only. Bagelfeld’s says it needs to hire three or four more employees – bakers, front and back of house – before it can bring back Tuesday and Sunday hours.
(Anyone interested can send a resume to admin@bagelfeld.com; the shop says it’ll follow up within a day or two to schedule interviews, and needs availability to include Tuesdays and Sundays.)
Online ordering and EZ Cater won’t be available for the first week back, with Bagelfeld’s aiming to have both up again by the first weekend of September.
The fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. on April 23, with firefighters extinguishing a blaze on the roof. No injuries were reported.
While the Phoenix shop rebuilt, Bagelfeld’s leaned on its new South Tempe location at Rural and Baseline, which expanded to seven-day service to cover the gap.
Bagelfeld’s is open 6 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday during its soft reopening.
