Openings

Tia Carmen, a contemporary Southwestern restaurant from celebrity chef Angelo Sosa, has opened at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in northeast Phoenix. See post

Birdcall, a Denver-based chain specializing in fried chicken sandwiches and tenders, made its Arizona debut on the northeast corner of Scottsdale and Shea in Scottsdale. See post

Cafe Rio Mexican Grill, a Utah-based chain of fast-casual restaurants, opened the first Arizona location of its ‘‘digital cafe’’ concept on the northwest corner of Indian School and 195th Avenue in Buckeye. See post

Pokitrition, a locally owned group of eateries specializing in sushi burritos and poke bowls, opened its fourth location on the northwest corner of the 101 and Via de Ventura in central Scottsdale. See post

Dynasty Chinese & Asian Cuisine opened in the former J Chen space on the southwest corner of Cave Creek and Tatum in Cave Creek. See post

California-based Blue Burro opened its first out-of-state restaurant on the southeast corner of Williams Field and Val Vista in Gilbert. It shares space with The Buffalo Spot. See post

Loco Amigos, a locally owned Mexican restaurant, opened in the former Burger IM building on the southeast corner of Price and Willis in south Chandler. See post

Light Heart Coffee, a small but stylish coffee shop from the owners of Light Heart Lashes, opened on the southwest corner of Shea and 70th Street in central Scottsdale. See post

Vegan & Vine, a family-owned, plant-based cafe, wine bar, and marketplace, has opened on the northwest corner of Seventh Street and Thunderbird in north central Phoenix. See post

Idaho-based burger joint Sid’s Garage made its Arizona debut Sunday next to the AMC movie theaters at Desert Ridge Marketplace in northeast Phoenix. See post

After nearly three years of construction, breakfast and lunch spot Tipsy Egg finally opened on the southeast corner of Arizona and Boston in downtown Chandler. See post

Roses by the Stairs Brewing, a farmhouse-inspired brewery that takes its name from the lyrics of a Blink-182 song, has opened near the southwest corner of McDowell and Fifth Avenue in central Phoenix. See post

Vietnamese restaurant Saigon Bistro Pho & Seafood has opened on the southwest corner of Bell and Tatum in north Phoenix. See post

Oregon-based Black Rock Coffee celebrated the opening of its fifth Mesa location  – and 27th in Arizona – on the southeast corner of Ellsworth and Ray. See post

New Jersey-based Bubbakoo’s Burritos, a fast-casual Mexican fusion eatery, made its Arizona debut in front of Sam’s Club at SanTan Village in Gilbert. See post

Colados Coffee & Crepes, a family-owned shop that’s been serves some of the best crepes in the West Valley, has opened its third location near the northeast corner of Seventh Street and Oak in midtown Phoenix. See post

Disco Dragon, a 40-seat Asian restaurant and bar, has opened on the southeast corner of Roosevelt and Fifth Street on Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix. See post

Cider Corps debuted its new production facility and taproom near the northeast corner of Gilbert and Warner in Gilbert. (It will continue to operate its original location in downtown Mesa.) See post

Utah-based soft drinks concept FiiZ Drinks returns to Arizona at noon Saturday with a new location on the northwest corner of Mesa and First Avenue in downtown Mesa. See post

Jimmy G’s, an independent restaurant focused on pastas and salads, has opened in the Grove Towne Shopping Center near the southeast corner of Alma School and Southern in Mesa. See post

Cinnaholic, a California-based chain of vegan cinnamon roll bakeries, has launched its third Valley location in less than a year in the former Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf space at Tempe Marketplace. See post

Zu & Pocha, self-described as ‘‘a modern seafood eatery and drinkery with a Korean touch,’’ has opened on the northeast corner of Apache and Terrace in Tempe. See post

Angel Thai Bistro, a family owned and operated restaurant, has opened in the former Sa Bai Thai space on the northeast corner of 40th Street and Greenway in northeast Phoenix. See post

Salt Tacos y Tequila, a modern Mexican restaurant and bar, has opened its third Valley location at The Shops at Norterra on the northeast corner of the I-10 and Happy Valley in north Phoenix. See post

Hashi Sushi has moved into the former Blu Sushi strip-mall space on the southeast corner of Pima and Pinnacle Peak in north Scottsdale. See post

Closings

Bliss Rebar – a restaurant and lounge with American comfort food, craft cocktails, and a shaded patio – closed after 12 years on the northeast corner of Fourth Street and Garfield in downtown Phoenix. See post

Not Your Typical Deli, the popular sandwich shop that hires about half its staff through its own training program for those with autism and other developmental disabilities, closed at Gilbert Town Square, but plans to open a ‘‘pop-up’’ concept in downtown Gilbert in July. See post

Juan Jaime’s Tacos & Tequila, a popular Chandler hangout since opening in 2007, closed near the northeast corner of the 101 and Chandler Boulevard, but its other location in north Scottsdale remains open. See post

Munch A Mania, a breakfast and lunch eatery near the northwest corner of University and the 101 in Tempe, closed after 25 years in business. Owners Gordon and Mary Taggart decided to retire. See post

S. Maranto’s Italian Bar & Market, an Italian grocery with a bar, closed after just six months on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and the 101 in north Scottsdale. See post
